Reno, Nevada (KOLO)-Urban Roots recently received two outdoor additions to its second street teaching farm.
Two red shipping containers will soon become non-profit kitchens and classrooms.
UrbanRoots, which aims to change the way the community eats and learns through gardening, launched a fundraiser for this expansion in 2019.
Jenny Angius, Director of Development and Communications for Urban Roots, said: “So if an individual gets a delicious and healthy chard, lettuce, or something new, they may be a little scared by it.”
The plan is for children and adults to learn how to plant, care for, harvest, and use the kitchen to prepare healthy recipes.
“If we can encourage you to be a little creative in the kitchen, you can show how simple it is, which is beneficial to their health and long-term preventable healthcare approach,” Angius said. I am saying.
The modular also has a toilet, which allows you to expand the size of your class to up to 90 students at a time.
“We will be able to do winter camp next winter, but we couldn’t because we didn’t have enough indoor space,” Angius said.
It is also expected that this addition will bring new revenue from the rental of space.
“Urban Roots canceled all face-to-face programs in 2020. The team is still temporarily dismissed as this is the greatest opportunity to generate revenue,” Angius said.
Nonprofits are waiting for permission from several cities and say they plan to install a kitchen by next spring.
