The average person can probably quote a recipe for a healthy diet: more fruits and vegetables, less lean meats and processed foods. Sounds easy. Still, Americans are still struggling to follow a healthy diet.
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death, with obesity rates increasing from 30.5% in 2000 to 42.4% in 2018. You can fight both of these by adopting a healthy diet, but only an estimated 22% of Americans follow the American Heart Association diet. Recommendations.
