Fast food chain Arby’s is known for its sandwiches and burgers, but it’s not necessarily the most nutritious place to eat.
But that doesn’t mean you can’t get a balanced diet with adequate amounts of protein from restaurants.
If you want to lose fat, build or maintain muscle, and increase your athletic performance, it’s important to consume adequate amounts of protein.
Adults in the United States are recommended to consume 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day, but active people need more protein to help muscle grow and repair. There are cases.
Vanessa Zingaro, a registered dietitian, told Insider that meals when eating out are often high in calories and low in protein.
“The best thing you can do is research the menu ahead of time so you can make choices that are in line with your goals and make you feel your best,” she said.
“I like to look for options that are higher in protein and fiber and that don’t break my calorie bank. My next meal.”

Vanessa Zingaro: Classic Beef & Cheddar Sandwich
Zingaro said if you go to Arby’s, order the Classic Beef and Cheddar Sandwich, which is roast beef with cheddar cheese sauce and red ranch sauce on toasted onion rolls.
Beef ‘n Cheddar has 450 calories, 23 grams protein, 20 grams fat, and 45 grams carbohydrates.
The protein content “helps keep you feeling full between meals, and the total calories aren’t too high,” Zingaro said.
Alix Turoff: Roast Beef Sandwich or Roast Beef Gyro
Registered dietitian Alix Turoff told Insider that Arby’s has a variety of options that provide adequate amounts of protein, and you can choose a size to suit your goals.
She recommends the roast beef sandwich.
- The Classic size has 360 calories, 23 grams of protein, 14 grams of fat, and 37 grams of carbs.
- A double has 510 calories, 38 grams of protein, 24 grams of fat, and 38 grams of carbs.
- A half pound contains 610 calories, 48 grams of protein, 30 grams of fat and 38 grams of carbohydrates.
Another option is the Roast Beef Gyro, which has 540 calories, 24 grams of protein, 29 grams of fat, and 48 grams of carbohydrates.
Nicola Ludlam-Raine: Crispy Chicken Club Wrap
Registered dietitian Nicola Rudrum Laing said she ordered the Crispy Chicken Club Wrap, which includes chicken nuggets, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheddar cheese, and honey mustard.
Ludlam-Raine said eating at least one of protein, carbohydrates, and five servings of fruits and vegetables per day is recommended.
A Crispy Chicken Club Wrap has 880 calories, 48 grams protein, 49 grams fat and 64 grams carbohydrates.
