Additives and frozen vegetables
Frozen vegetables alone are great for a healthy diet, according to Richards, but packaged vegetables with additives and “extras” can mean extra calories and other unwanted ingredients. “Not all frozen vegetables are of the same quality,” Richards warns. “Frozen produce made with sugar, oil, dressings and cheese adds unnecessary calories and has a negative effect on weight loss.”
She says these extra calories are often not taken into account in a balanced diet and can delay weight loss efforts. “It’s best to simply buy frozen produce that has been harvested, washed and frozen. You can then choose to add additional ingredients during preparation,” she suggests. She emphasizes that frozen vegetables are an excellent addition to a healthy and balanced diet if not seasoned or mixed with others.
“When harvested and frozen, they often have the highest nutrient content. Therefore, they are often richer than fresh produce that is harvested, transported, or placed on shelves and stored in the kitchen. “

If you’re a vegan or vegetarian, it’s a good idea to prepare your own plant-based diet rather than reaching for a frozen, ready-to-heat diet. “Sodium, fat and calories in most of these diets are one of the worst vegan foods to buy,” she explains. “It provides few essential nutrients such as vitamins and minerals and is very rich in calories and fat.”
She recommends that you may want to prepare your own for easy access to plant-based pasta, whole grain wraps, and lots of vegetables frozen. “This is a more beneficial approach than relying on these dangerously high sodiums, and you’ll soon feel hungry because of the refined carb content,” she adds.
Problems with processed health foods and stagnant weight loss are primarily found in plant-based diets or healthy diets that rely on a fast diet. “Following these dietary patterns makes you want to look at processed convenience foods that don’t contain animal foods. Unfortunately, they’re high in fat and sugar, and at the same time increase the calories in the product.”
