Medical costs continue to rise. What suggestions do you need to address rising medical costs, including prescription drugs?
I voted for a bill to help families, reduce the cost of prescription drugs such as insulin, and help raise medical costs. However, the legislature was, of course, cautious about enacting price controls for prescription drugs and limiting maximum costs. Manufacturers have revealed that these actions can hinder innovation and prevent more effective prescriptions from being marketed.
We need to do more to enable people to buy the prescriptions they need, and with manufacturers to encourage and encourage rebate programs to help people who can’t buy the prescriptions they need. We need to cooperate. You also need to ensure a competitive environment in Illinois with both providers and insurance companies. This can reduce medical costs for the general public.
Toxic political polarization pervades the landscape. How does it work to heal divisions?
I am a person who believes in cooperation and respect, especially among elected civil servants.
I think we need to think before we talk.As a civil servant, I believe you have to do
Understand that in these positions it is really important how you act in public and how you do your personal life.
As a member of the General Assembly, I reflect the common-sense conservative values of the Central Illinois region, but I also believe that the need to work with people across the state and the political spectrum is also effective. increase. Just because someone has a different philosophical perspective does not mean that they are your enemies or that you cannot work with them. To advance policy goals, especially on large and complex issues, we need to listen to and work with all aspects to reach the point where something can be advanced.
Illinois is ranked as the least tax-friendly state for the middle class in the country. In addition to the tax cuts passed in the latest budget, how do you work to reduce the burden on taxpayers?
A real permanent tax cut is needed. That is one of the main reasons for opposition to the increase in progressive taxation by Governor Pritzker.
Congress needs to not only reduce income and business taxes, but also abolish the consumption tax on automobile fuel.
We should hold local government officials responsible for reducing our annoying property taxes. Under our tax bill, only one of the 11 municipalities has reduced the tax rate this year. The local government I advocated as a leader in the path of government integration and tax cuts. More needs to be done to reduce more than 8,000 government agencies in the state. This will reduce property taxes.
Finally, we need to grow the economy through job creation. The best way to increase your income and reduce taxes.
