After the birth of their son in August 2020, Delhi-based Arvind Singh and his wife began researching suitable complementary foods for their son.
“Complementary foods are typically ready-to-eat cereal-based porridges or semi-solid foods given to children between 6 and 24 months of age to supplement nutritional needs that begin to exceed those provided by breast milk. Once the product was complete, Singh and his team distributed samples to several parents, including those with children over the age of 24 months. “The aim was not only to sell the product, but also to spread awareness about the consumption of millet and its benefits. I realized that it was largely unknown among the general public despite trying to promote
Mahi, who lives in Delhi, has been buying NUoMI ragi and millet products for her son for over a year.
“Doctors and health care providers have advised us on offering millet for nutrition. “Since he started eating these millet, my son has gained some strength and is a healthy weight,” she adds.
Pushtikar Udyog’s products are currently available in the metropolitan area, but the company plans to expand to other parts of the country soon, Singh said.
