Eddie Hall has dropped somewhere around £ 100 since he won the world’s strongest man in 2017, but “Beast” loves to pump iron as he always has. .. In an exclusive interview with a man who once broke the deadlift world record for £ 1,019 (462 kilograms), a 34-year-old man from Staffordshire, England, opened the door to Muscle & Fitness on a wide range of topics. Hall, who spoke at the MyProteinLABS Live Fitness Expo in London, looked back on Strongman’s incredible requirements for calories and discussed how to lose weight now. In his early teens, “The Beast,” who also won medals at 50, 100, 400 and 1,500 meters of freestyle swimming competitions, shows how the sport has had a significant impact on his overall fitness. I shared it.
How important is a live fitness event like this to you?
They are very important. Of course, it has a great online presence, but I think one-on-one interactions are very important for staying connected. With Covid, and a kind of blockade, people really lost contact. A little of that one-to-one connection. You see all these people on your screens, bodybuilding shows, and TV, and Strongman and everything, but I think in a way they are what they want, and that’s what they want. It’s good to give back. I know a little, take a picture, sign. I remember when I was a young teenager who went to this kind of event or conference (people I respected). They inspire you and the few moments you meet your hero can make a big difference.
Speaking of social media, we loved your Instagram and enjoyed watching you swim. It’s part of your story that people may not know. What was your swimming background?
I think I beat the British people from 11 to 13 years old — that was a long time ago and I haven’t tracked it down. I set some British records, but yes, I was on a potential world-class team. It was basically like the GB Junior Olympic team and it was something. I was in the pool when everyone else was studying GCSE at school. As you know, most days are 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening. Well, it was very hard when I was a kid, but I think it taught me a lot of self-discipline. I think it’s a great blueprint for the rest of my life.
You have lost weight in the last few years. Swimming is perfect for that. Did you raise the level of aerobic exercise you perform?
Cardio has become a bit more standard in my routine. Walking is the main thing, you know, [I put a] Weighted vest; 20, 30 kg. I take my dog for a mile and a half, most morning at a good pace.
And it tends to keep me pretty healthy. Heart rate rises for about 15 to 20 minutes, such as 140 seconds and 150 seconds. For me, it only improves the rhythm of my heart every day, but weight is arguably my number one staple. Will always be. As you know, I like to stay in shape, but I also like to stay healthy. That’s important.
How was your calorie intake at the height of your Strongman career compared to where you are now?
So when I was the size of the strongest man in the world, in American language I was 433 pounds or 434 pounds. So, you know, I was a male giant. And I actually did a study once (in 2016) at the University (Staffford Shea) where I sat in a chair and wore all this breathing device, and they measured oxygen, carbon dioxide consumption. You could, and they can understand how many calories you are burning just by sitting in a chair. And they started to burn 5,000 calories in that size for 12 hours just by sitting in a chair. So you have to think not only about how many calories you need to put in to fuel it, but also how many calories you need to put in to fuel it. [training] session. As you know, I travel a lot 2-3 times a day and do a lot of training, so my biggest story is 10,000-12,000 (calories), most days 12,000. Today it’s like 4,000 to 6,000. So it’s almost half, but I’m not half my weight. I think it was its pure mass that made the difference in the number of calories going in and out.
Your wife, Alexandra, will help you meet those high calorie requirements. What were some of the tricks you used?
In other words, food was a chore. Food is an absolute chore when you are a strongman. You know, you aren’t enjoying your food at some point. That means [all about] A healthy diet, you’re talking about regular porridge and steak, rice and chicken for a supper, and vegetables for a supper and a supper, but I think it’s a strong man [about] Add these small amounts of calories, so if you have chicken curry with rice, chop the back of the bacon and add 1000 calories. Breakfast, you will like smoothies, you will make it with ice cream, not you make it with water. Next, for dessert, lunch, and dinner, prepare half of the family cheesecake for dessert and half of the family cheesecake for dinner. As you know, cheesecake alone has 3,000 to 4,000 calories, so you can get healthy food, but you also need to add junk to make it bulky and take energy into it.
What’s next to Eddie Hall?
I want to go back to the YouTube channel and start doing something more interesting. Because it felt like my bread and butter. And when it comes to sports, I’m a step back. I’m taking it when it comes. I haven’t signed a contract yet and haven’t made an offer. You know, it doesn’t make sense for me to go boxing on the road, it has to be a big name, it really has to be someone there, or it’s worth doing in my opinion There is none.
But you are clearly ready.
Yeah, that means I’m always going to keep it. So I’m just waiting for another opportunity, but until then I’ve booked on a TV show and returned to the YouTube business to stay healthy and active. That is my main goal now.
