On Thursday, House passed a democracy-sponsored bill that limits insulin prices to $ 35 per month for most Americans. In recent years, Americans have increased by almost 500 percent. Currently, some people pay more than $ 1,000 a month for insulin to treat diabetes, even with insurance. Democrats were looking for ways to keep drug prices down overall with broader policy proposals, but they were unlikely to pass the Senate. In the hope of a bipartisan compromise, they siled insulin price controls as their own means. Still, only 12 Republicans voted in favor of a bill that was very popular with Americans.
Among those who voted “no” was Rep. Matt Gaetz (Republican), a major Republican troll. He figured out one of the most unpleasant reasons Republicans oppose the popular bill. In a Friday newsletter, Gates told his members that he opposed the bill because fat people, not big pharma, are responsible for pushing up the cost of insulin. He suggested that type 2 diabetes, which is often associated with obesity, can be cured if only people can exercise more and lose weight. At that point, insulin will no longer be needed and the cost of the drug will go down without government intervention. Gates wrote:
The Democratic HR6833 stance is sacrificing insulin payees as people with uncontrollable illnesses that Big Brother needs to take advantage of and throw rafts, while when lifestyle changes occur in unison, insulin Demand and subsequent prices will drop rapidly. 90-95% of people with diabetes have type 2 diabetes. It can be prevented or delayed by healthy lifestyle changes such as losing weight, eating a healthy diet, and being active. Voluntary price controls are not a substitute for individual weight controls. Since 2000, the number of diabetics in the United States has almost doubled. Demand for insulin has increased, followed by higher prices. In other words, the price of insulin rises as the waistline increases.
More than a quarter of Florida’s residents are obese, including Gates’ favorite Palm Beach resident, former President Donald Trump. Also, more than 10% of the state’s population suffers from diabetes, but not all of it is caused by lifestyle factors. Gates’ empathy attempts at the time were probably not very convincing. “I sympathize with all Americans suffering from illness and continue to fight Big Pharma, but I voted against HR6833,” he writes. “I have never seen a resurgence of FDR price controls and the Democratic Party has not participated in any attempt to pave the way for a surf dam.”
This is not the first time Gates has shown real contempt for an overweight person. In January, in his podcast “Firebrand,” he accused Twitter of banning Marjorie Taylor Greene (Republican) for “tell the truth” about the relationship between Covid and obesity. After a segment about advocating for medical marijuana, he warned that legal weeds are “not an excuse for America to sit fat and high at home.” He blamed the “awakened” culture for the “chubby cheerleader.”
“I’m not here to feel embarrassed,” he said. “I have no room to talk. I personally know how difficult weight problems are. I often fall behind my goals. But society now has daily salads. We’ve come to the point where it’s considered redundant to think that it might make you more resilient to all sorts of illnesses than the lunar vax pushed by Big Pharma. When Michelle Obama is needed Where are you? ”I expressed nostalgia for the former first lady“ Let’s Move! ”. How the country has moved from her push for a better diet to the current “awakening to accept obesity”, which is blaming the “body mass index for being a white supremacist tool”. I was confused about.
Even his own colleagues are unaffected by the contempt of Gates’ obesity. He once publicly discussed the fight against obesity, took a potshot with Congressman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) who underwent weight loss surgery in August, and said that Nadler should be in charge of the “Parliamentary Weight Loss Program.” Suggested. “

Gates may argue that he sympathizes with people suffering from weight problems, but he clearly doesn’t think he’s one of them. In August, he declared that he “doesn’t fit” with other lawmakers, as most of the other lawmakers are elderly obese people.
