Cereals are one of the easiest breakfast options to start your day, but they generally contain few valuable nutrients. Most cereals are also loaded with sugar, which can negatively affect your metabolism.Feder says cereals high in sugar are “one of the most unhealthy processed foods.” Added sugar has no nutritional value and results in empty calories that ruin your metabolism.
“They contain sugar, sodium, and refined carbohydrates,” he continues. This can cause your blood sugar to plummet and slow your metabolism.” So while nutritionists like Feder warn against high-sugar cereals, avoid sweets in the morning. No need to. Feder stresses that it’s okay to eat McDonald’s burgers and fries once in a while, but don’t make it a habit!

It may be tempting to pick up a muffin and run out the door, but this delicious treat actually does little to satisfy your appetite and can ruin your metabolism.
