In 2012, carrier insurance agent Tyler Fussell left Humana to open a joint partner and agency. In 2021, Fussell acquired this agency and renamed it Fussell Group Insurance Advisors (FGIA). Covington-based agents act as a bridge between carriers, independent insurance agents, and Medicare beneficiaries by helping seniors make the right choice of Medicare medical plan.
FGIA has won numerous awards and is ranked #1 in sales for all Medicare Advantage plans in Louisiana. Principal Hussel is an expert in this field and regularly consults with Louisiana insurance companies on plans for annual benefit changes.
How do seniors block out noise and avoid scams? Any new noises/scams this year?
Medicare beneficiaries should always use a local licensed Medicare-approved insurance agent when choosing a Medicare health plan. Local agents know not only the network of doctors and hospitals, but also the differences between various health insurance plans. A compliant ethical agent will never call your phone or randomly ask for your Medicare number without your permission. Medicare recipients should never give Medicare and bank account information over the phone to anyone they don’t know. Medicare will never ask for your Medicare number over the phone.
How can agents help older adults make the best medical decisions?
If a senior is “aging” into Medicare for the first time, the agent should review Medicare A, B, C, and D with the senior so they understand what each portion of Medicare entails. The term “Aging to Medicare” means that the client is currently eligible for Medicare His Parts A & B through age, retirement from a company with group benefits, or her 24+ months of disability. I mean A Fussell Group representative explains the difference between her two Medicare plans available to seniors: Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage Plan. From here, advanced users can decide which plan best suits their needs. Agents can then compare plans available in their area to help clients make the final decision, reducing confusion they may have and giving them confidence in their decisions. If a client already has a Medicare plan, a Fussell Group agent will meet with the client to review the network of doctors and hospitals and compare plans and medications. The agent then reviews the plan options and discusses the benefits of the plan and how it will affect seniors in the coming year.
What training do agents need each year?
