Birmingham’s popular bar manager is unrecognizable after his dramatic weight loss. Connor King Three was 25 stones at his heaviest point-but after a “call for awakening” of health he lost a dramatic amount.
Connor is the manager of Mr. Mulligans at Broadway Plaza and is a familiar face in the red-light district on the west side of the city. He said the “major awakening call” to lose his weight was after he became diabetic because of his weight.
After a major change in life, the bar manager dropped six and a half stones and is now hosting the London Marathon in October. And he’s tackling a huge 26-mile challenge for bitter reasons.

Connor is raising money for the Marie Curie Cancer Charity to commemorate his Nan, Foster Mum, and a close friend who was helped or linked to a charity. A 33-year-old woman from Winson Green in Birmingham said:
“I realized I was the largest 25 stones I’ve ever had. It made me diabetic and made a big awakening call. After returning to normal exercise, I managed to lose 6. With half the stones of my first year, I have a fixed plan to get off further.
“I was a regular runner who belonged to a running club a few years ago, but I applied for and didn’t participate in the London Marathon every year. I continued to apply when I stopped running, and it was my 8th attempt!
“I’m back in training now and I’m already in Birmingham 10km in May with my colleague Martin. The next race will be the Black Country Half Marathon on Saturday, July 2nd.”
Connor explained that he chose Marie Curie for a fundraiser to commemorate the three. Former Birmingham Swifts running friend Andrew Swifts, who worked as a chef at Marie Curie, died of cancer in 2020.
His foster mother, who died of cancer earlier this year and was taken care of by a charity and Nan who died of cancer a few years ago, was there again for Marie Curie to help both her and her family.
Connor is an 18-week training program supported by Birmingham Swift coach Peter Davis.
He added: “Andrew devoted his heart and soul to his work and the philanthropy he loved. My foster parents gave her life and soul to raise hundreds of children and protect everyone they met. Marie Curie’s staff and hospice were great for her, so I decided to do this run in honor of her and my Nan. “
He also hosts a crazy golf charity tournament, cake sale and raffle at Mulligans on September 7th to raise more money for Marie Curie. After previously working at the Walkabout Bar and Banatain Gym, Connor, well known on the West Side, is now looking for raffle prizes for the September event.
