Jess Sims, a Peloton instructor, may teach running and walking sessions through Tread, but her favorite workout is actually strength training exercises, she told Insider.
In an interview coordinated by Reebok, Sims said challenging movements such as one-legged deadlift and push-ups were her number one choice for building strength, preventing injuries and improving running.
She said the best way to see the benefits of any exercise is to move at your own pace, listen to your body, and work to maintain good shape.
Sims loves one-legged deadlift to prevent injuries and improve running
One of Sims’ favorite exercises, the one-legged deadlift, targets muscles that are often ignored in the back chain or behind the body.
“One-legged deadlift helps strengthen hamstrings, which don’t work as easily as the quadriceps (the muscles in the front of the thigh),” she said.
According to Sims, the main advantage of working on one foot at a time in a deadlift is that it helps prevent injuries. She said exercise helps develop balance, coordination, and strength.
