Islamabad: Pakistani athletes suffered cramps during the recent Asian Cup match against India in Dubai due to lack of fitness and a sudden drop in hydration levels, Pakistan Anti-Doping Organization (ADOP) said. Chairman Dr Wakar Ahmad said.
Dr Wakar, who is well known in the field of rehabilitation, said he was surprised to see three of Pakistan’s leading players suffering from convulsions during Sunday’s Asian Cup match.
“I was also surprised to see three Pakistanis, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Rizwan, feeling dehydrated and tired. It looked like there was
When asked about why these spasms occurred in the T20 match, Dr. Wakar said there were two reasons that caused such a scenario. “International sport is all about fitness and the level of fitness required is extraordinary. According to my decades of knowledge, Pakistani cricketers either lacked real physical fitness or were in extreme physical fitness. It is suggested that the hydration level was not increased to the level required for the match in the heat.”
He suggested that special efforts should be made to keep players hydrated during such extreme weather and that their nutritional levels should be checked the day before the game. I’m sure the level of fitness needed for such an occasion in the hot weather of the United States was not there. Even when bowling in extreme sun they had no problems. The surface was hard as well and it was a challenge but the cricketers couldn’t handle it.Indians All were playing as if there was no extraordinary heat.Pakistan support staff need to improve hydration levels of players and check nutrition levels to cope with the heat The Asian Cup is not an ordinary event and will be held in the heat, and while I am sure the Pakistani think tank is doing its best, every cricketer should be treated according to his physical requirements. Fast bowlers and wicket keepers need special care to withstand the load.”
Dr Waqar also suggested that there are some legal remedies available to improve a player’s tolerance to exceptional heat. It takes a special effort to prepare, and it’s a long process, so you can’t improve a player’s fitness level overnight.”
Another important factor contributing to a player’s hydration level is deep sleep. “These cricketers need deep sleep between training and matches. Muscle relaxation is needed and the best neutral way to improve it is to get deep sleep. have questioned the sleeping habits of Pakistani players: there is an urgent need to increase the timing of sleep and rest in order to obtain the fitness and hydration levels required for international cricket.”
