The point of meditation is to surrender and give up control, says Tamarin Obrowitz, MA Clinical Cyc, a spiritual and holistic therapist, and the founder of EmpowHER Healing. If the idea of giving up control seems scary, raise your hand. For those of us who aren’t big fans of meditation, that’s fine. You can try other mindfulness modality that offers similar benefits (reducing anxiety, improving self-awareness, increasing creativity, etc.). Below, Tamarin shares three mindfulness exercises to try if you are not a fan of meditation.
1. Grounding motion
“Sit upright on a chair with the soles of your feet on the ground below. Gently close your eyes. Take a deep breath.
Now, vividly imagine the grounding cord attached to the coccyx of the spine. Imagine this grounding cord anchored in the rich and fertile soil beneath you. It is useful to have the “connection” at least as wide as your waist. This ground cord can be any color and can look as you like. It can be anything that appeals to you and helps you feel connected (eg, large trees, waterfalls, ship anchors, pillars of light, crystals flowing down to the center of the earth, specific colors, etc.) This ground. The cord helps you feel calm, fixed, grounded and connected to your body and yourself.
Visualize, sense, or feel dropping connections from the area of the coccyx to this special area in the center of the Earth. Sit down and feel the connection with the earth. Focus on how you feel two minutes after connecting to the earth cord and internalize the earth sensation / energy emanating from this exercise. “
2. Being in exercise and cleansing obstruction of your body
“The following exercises connect to all areas of your body and energy centers, allowing you to be more careful and lay the groundwork when anxiety and stress are on the rise.
Start by paying attention to the crown. Notice the beautiful white light shining on the top of the head. When this white light enters the crown, it removes and purifies the thoughts that cause anxiety and anxiety. Then, as this white light dances between the points between the third eye, the eyebrows, it follows this white light. Note that it wipes out any energy that is hindering you from connecting you to your intuition. This white light then moves through parts of the body, moving the throat, removing the energy that prevents it from speaking, expressing and expressing one’s feelings.
This white light then gently moves through the center of your heart, removing and purifying the energies that prevent you from loving and forgiving yourself, loving and forgiving others. Now you can clean and clear your stomach with any energy that prevents the white light from moving quickly in the area of your stomach and preventing you from feeling your most confident, powerful and most valuable self. I feel that.
This white light keeps moving down in your body and then dances around your pelvic area, removing and purifying this area of energy that prevents you from feeling creativity. Finally, this bright, powerful and bright light passes through the coccyx of the spine, removing fear-based energy and making you feel anxious. Once this energy has been purified in the coccyx, you can return to the top of your head and start over if necessary. “
3. Focus on breathing — 4-4-8
“Breathwork is completely underestimated and scientifically proven to calm the nervous system when connected to breathing, especially when the nervous system is activated. I am a client (and nervous) One of the breathwork magic recipes I often use on my own when I’m feeling anxious is the 4-4-8 method, and spit out for 8 counts. Grounded, calm, centered. Repeat several times until you feel it is placed in, aligned, and your heart rate is low. ”
