The Vishal Pabby is 25kg lighter, thanks in part to its unique exercise therapy using the bath.
The 29-year-old woman has been working as a GoBus casual bus driver in Dunedin for the past three years, studying to become a veterinary nurse with Otago Polytechnic techniques.
However, the sedentary nature of work and working with shifts of up to 12 hours meant that he began to gain weight.
“I decided’that’s it’more than six months ago, so I lost more than 25 kg just by doing these little activities and taking care of my diet.”

These small activities take place when Pabbie stops after finishing the route.
“I exercise wherever the bus stops.”
In the 10 minutes between the passenger’s disembarkation and the arrival of others, he attempts 300 step-ups, up to 80 push-ups, and 75 squats.
His routine is inside or outside the bus, depending on the weather.
In the bus, Pabbie uses a resistance band tied to the pole to work on the chest, shoulders, latissimus dorsi, and biceps, jumping out on a sunny day and aiming for 1200 every day.
The size of the bath means that some exercises are being done, such as yoga and chin-up.
“I try not to do it in front of people … I’m shy,” said Pabbie, who moved to New Zealand in 2011.
But recently, that changed after his short clips of multiple push-ups on the Dunedin paved road were shared – his feet were inside the door of a parked bus.
By Friday, the TikTok clip had been viewed more than 330,000 times.
“I didn’t know someone recorded me … I’m not on TikTok.”
Pabbie’s Punjab-based family called him after watching a video in India, but said he had no plans to turn his newly found fame into a career.
“This is my hobby that I enjoy. I don’t want to gain fame with it.”
GoBus Dunedin Depot Manager Narindervir Singh wasn’t surprised to hear that the TikTok video was sent within 30 minutes of being posted.
“That’s good. I knew he was doing it … and it was his break.”
In addition to doing his unusual exercise therapy, Pabbie has a special travel companion, a three-month-old Pomeranian puppy called a DJ, who puts it in the crate of a pet on the bus.
Beyond the bus regime, he regularly exercises at the University of Otago’s Unipole Gym between studies.
He hopes to graduate at the end of 2023, but will still be a casual bus driver, saying he enjoyed making money while providing public services.
“I’m helping someone get to their destination safely and on time.”
