Stress, comfort and convenience can all lead to unhealthy dietary choices. Jada Johnson of Chesapeake shares the importance of a nutritional diet.
Chesapeake, Virginia — Jada Johnson always cooks colorful meals.
This is one of the healthy food choices Mary Baldwin freshmen make every day, and she helps others do the same.
“You have dairy products, fruits, vegetables, carbs and proteins and make them a rainbow on your plate,” Johnson said. “A healthy diet is not difficult. It’s not as expensive as many Americans think.”
As a high school student, the Gold Award Girl Scout began volunteering at her church’s food pantry, New Life Churchnet Caster’s Kitchen.
“That was when I started the Gold Awards, which is a one-year project,” Johnson said.
After noticing people’s bad eating habits and choices in the pantry, she decided to help by leading a monthly cooking demonstration in her church.
