Is a promo starting price of $1,495) and a $39 monthly subscription worth it? Well, it depends on what you’re looking for.
Here are some things to consider before going all-in on Lululemon Studio:
great home gym mirror
If you’re looking for a mirror-based home gym solution with tons of great workouts (and priced below most of the competition), Lululemon Studio is well worth it.
The actual Lululemon Studio Mirror device looks like a sleek, everyday full-body mirror, but it’s nothing new. The company acquired his 2020 popular Mirror platform. But it was my first time using it at home. I was worried I wouldn’t have the space to work out properly, but I leaned the Lululemon Studio against the wall, plugged it in, and found that my small space had enough room for every class I tried. I was excited to discover And best of all, Mirror is right behind my desk, so I didn’t have to worry that the person I was video calling with would realize my gym was also my office.
I chose to mount the mirror against the wall with a carbon steel frame, but it can be mounted upon delivery. Overall weight is 70 lbs. However, I can also attest that it was moved from its original location of choice to another room, though I needed a hand to carry it.
Setup was so easy I had to wonder if I had overlooked something. First, you need to download the Lululemon Studio app (available for both iOS and Android) and create an account. Then just plug it in, press the power button at the bottom, and you’ll be presented with a Full HD 43-inch display. Next, we’ll cover pairing with Wi-Fi, connecting to your phone, and syncing your device with the app.
The mirror is not touchscreen and must be controlled using an app. At first I thought this would be inefficient, but I soon realized that since everything was at home, I didn’t have to worry about things like my phone going off. so it can be placed in rooms with slow signal or Wi-Fi dead zones.
If you already own Mirror and want to upgrade to Lululemon Studio, simply update the app and software on your device.
New studio partners (and instructors) are fun and eclectic
Ready to go, I was excited to check out the new workouts.
No doubt. I miss my live fitness classes. Before the pandemic, he was taking at least three classes a week at the gym. But then I got used to working out virtually and just headed to the gym in my building. Lululemon Studio embraces the feel of a live class beyond the Peloton experience. Perhaps it’s because the way it’s filmed and shown in the mirror is more like having the instructor in the same room as you instead of following the instructor from a broadcast studio. You can see yourself with the trainer at
The eight studio partners are Dogpound for cardio, Aarmy for bootcamp, Y7 and YogaSix for yoga classes, Forward_Space and AKT for dance, Pure Barre for barre, and Rumble for boxing. I started with dance classes because I miss dance classes the most. For 50 minutes he was in the Forward_Space class and without a second thought he was able to sweat over 500 calories. In fact, I had a lot of fun and it was so easy to follow the movements even in a small space.
Then I tried a yoga class. I’ll admit, I’ve never been a fan of yoga. I’m the one in the back of the class with one eye open when everyone should be “looking inward”. So I tried YogaSix, which offers power yoga and sculpt + flow classes set to upbeat music and I’m so happy I did. I started with the beginner power class and enjoyed it so much I went to the intermediate class the next day. (not that it’s bad).
I was also surprised by the Rumble class. I just happened to have Rumble Studios around the corner from my apartment, and I’ve always wanted to check it out, but I couldn’t go before the pandemic. I tried the 30 minute Boxing + HIIT class and it was a lot of fun while burning nearly 400 calories. The instructor kept me engaged, focused, and inspired, and with 20% off his live classes, going to the studio might still be a long way off.
Too many classes to name specifically (over 10,000 on-demand streamable classes with 60+ fitness classes from beginner to expert), but honestly, you found something you enjoy I don’t think I have to. I even found some old ballet shoes and took an intermediate classical ballet class (ouch). In fact, no matter what kind of class you want to try, it’s probably here in some form.
Easy app and tight-knit community
If you want to hop on the virtual workout train, you need an app that won’t confuse you. The Lululemon Studio app lays everything out clearly, and on the home screen you can choose your weekly workout goals and see your progress clearly. Here you can check out new classes, browse our eight studio partners, check out what the community is digging, and pick your favorite classes.[マイ ショートカット]You can also save to The Time Savers area shows his 15-minute classes, and below that, you’ll also see information about booking his $40 per 30-minute personal training session. These use the mirror’s built-in mic for two-way audio, and the front-facing camera (which comes with an optional physical cover if privacy is a concern) for interaction.
Elsewhere in the app, you can browse classes more broadly via genres, channels, programs, and collections. See the calendar for all live classes. Get a better breakdown of your activity (including color-coded heart rate charts, health scores including calories burned, heart, muscle and recovery). You can also scroll down to Settings and invite up to 5 household members to share your membership.
The lululemon community never expected me to be so highly regarded. I could log in at any time to start a class and see hundreds of member icons (including usernames, photos and ages) scrolling down. I don’t know why, but I was strangely relieved to know that I wasn’t the only one working, and that I could progress at my own pace without feeling bad about myself.
Ok lululemon, you want to sell hardware. But honestly, as much as I love working out on the Mirror, it was just as easy to take these classes on my phone and stream them on my TV. Especially since it doesn’t have a touch screen. Paying a monthly fee for the app is much easier for people with smaller spaces or like me with an in-building gym. No, but you could take unlimited classes with a monthly software subscription.
When I spoke with lululemon Digital Fitness CEO Mike Aragon at the Lululemon Studio launch event, he suggested the company would consider allowing app-only subscriptions sometime next year.
Miller Workout products are a hot commodity, lululemon has some competition, but right now it’s the lowest cost option with a promotional price of $795 and offers the best kind of classes. At around $4,000, the Tonal has a 24-inch touchscreen and built-in weights and cables for a full-body workout. Meanwhile, Tempo Studio’s 24-inch interactive screen uses AI combined with 3D technology to better mimic a personal trainer. $2,495 (There’s also the $395 Tempo Move if you want a more affordable option to use your TV as a screen). A new addition to Mirror-based fitness offerings is the $2,495 Forme Studio. This includes access to Barry’s streaming of his Bootcamp classes and a “personal fitness concierge” offering that helps him train one-on-one via his interactive touchscreen hardware. Emphasis on
Ultimately, promotional pricing means you can’t take advantage of more advanced hardware like touchscreens, big screens, and AI, and trade it for a bunch of fun, well-made classes. They haven’t announced whether they’re going back to the original $1,495, so I feel the promotional price is well worth it.
For many of us, our daily fitness regime has changed dramatically since Covid-19.Getting back to the gym may not be on everyone’s list. Mirror-based fitness products are fun, easy to set up, and certainly trendy, but Lululemon has added an extra layer to its offerings with his eight new partners at the Studio and his 15 trainers.
The mix of classes was well-tailored, not only getting me back into what I love, like dancing, but also enthusiastically doing things I wouldn’t want to try in other situations, like yoga and boxing. You can take it anywhere, but I wish there was a lower cost option for just an app-based subscription.
At a promotional price of $795 (regular price is $1,495), you can try Mirror risk-free for 30 days. Yes, adding a monthly subscription is expensive, but so is a gym membership, so it depends on what you want to get. , lululemon will pick it up for free and give you a full refund.
A well-rounded home gym experience, a great-looking full-length mirror, and nice discounts on premium lululemon gear aren’t bad.
