“Where did this cellulite come from the soles of my feet?” This is a frequently asked question from many of my clients. I myself am included as a new mom and trainer. As women, we are prone to cellulite because of our anatomy and higher levels of estrogen. So what can we do with the odds piled up against us? Now, staying on top of your fitness game is important for reducing fat and getting in shape. So I’ve put together some of the best exercises to quickly lose thigh fat and kick that cellulite to the curb.
Before we get into them, let’s talk a little more about cellulite. Cellulite occurs when fat cells gather in the body, exert pressure on the skin, and pull on the “fibrous binding cord” that binds the skin to the underlying muscles. Cellulite can create a dented appearance on the thighs, gluteal muscles, abdomen, and even the hips. This general skin condition is completely harmless, but dealing with it as you head into the swimwear season can be frustrating.
Exercise cannot completely remove cellulite, but it can reduce the appearance of cellulite by reducing fat and increasing body muscle mass. This, combined with hydration, a nutritious and vegetable-rich diet, and dry brushing, ultimately reduces those unwanted dibots. In addition, with these “little adaptations” or positive lifestyle changes, you will soon feel strong and carved.

This is one of my favorite ballet exercises to date, as it targets the inside and outside of the thighs, hamstrings, and gluteal muscles. Stand with your legs wider than your hips and your toes. Bring your hand to the center of your heart. Lower your hips to fit your knees and push your knees back. Hold it for a moment, rest your shoulders on your hips, and pull the top of your head toward the ceiling. Straighten your legs and press on the upper gluteal muscles. Repeat 10 times and pulse 10 times at the end.

I love this movement that emphasizes the thighs and quadriceps. Rush with your right foot in front and your left foot in the back. Bend your knees, lower your hips, and make a 90 degree angle with both feet. Keep your hips at a right angle and move your left foot about a foot to the right toward the far right corner of the room. Squeeze the inside of your thighs to lift your hips and lower your hips as you would a traditional rush. Repeat 10 times and pulse 10 times at the end. Repeat with the other foot.

This exercise best mimics the chair pose in Barre, a real thigh and buttock burner. Stand about 2 feet in front of the wall. Lower your hips until your back hits the wall and your feet are parallel to the floor, as if you were sitting in a chair. Bring your hand to the center of your heart and hold it for 30 seconds.
Repeat this series two more times for a killer workout and say goodbye to cellulite!
