Lewis Capaldi was overjoyed to hear his doctor tell Stephen Bartlett, “Exercise won’t help you lose weight.”
The Scottish singer recently shared a short clip of himself celebrating after listening to Bartlett’s recent episode Diary of the CEO Featuring Dr. Tim Spector:
Capaldi’s TikTok followers were also quick to welcome the news, with one posting, “This is revolutionary.”

A fourth user wrote, “The news we’ve all been waiting for.”
However, before you or Capaldi canceled that gym membership, Spector clarified a few things about his allegations against Bartlett.
In the podcast, Bartlett tells Spector that he and his buddies have a group chat that tracks their workouts, but that “nearly everyone” in the group has been monitoring exercise levels for a year. He says he has lost weight.
Spector replied: “Weight loss plays little role. [for exercise]All the long-term studies show that it doesn’t help with weight loss and is grossly hyped as an “easy solution” to the obesity problem.
Bartlett asks bluntly, “Doesn’t exercise help you lose weight?”
Spector replied: The only caveat is that if you lose weight by changing your diet, improving your diet, and maintaining some exercise, you can prevent the weight from coming back on.
“But it does nothing without changing your diet, and as such is well known by obesity experts and research.”
Spector went on to emphasize that exercise is “healthy,” “feel great” and “heart-healthy,” explaining that he himself exercises regularly and that others should do the same. but added the following: Weight loss has to do something about your diet. “
Doctors have said that if weight loss is your goal, it’s more important to focus on cleaning up your diet.
