- LeBron James chef Dena Marino shared an NBA star granola recipe on Instagram.
- The recipe does not include oats, but contains spices and protein sources such as nuts and egg whites.
- According to nutritionists, the recipe is nutritious as it is, but adding oats will increase your heart’s health.
LeBron James became the oldest player in NBA history in 37-60 days in a match where the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, scoring over 50 points and 10 rebounds.
Older NBA superstars continue to be the top sports performers as they approach the age of 40. James’ diet and lifestyle to maintain its performance have changed over the years. According to ESPN, he has a different diet than drinking wine every day. According to Men’s Health, he only eats meat, fish and vegetables for 67 consecutive days.
According to chef Dena Marino, who posted James’ favorite granola recipe on Instagram on Wednesday, one of James’s healthy snacks these days is his high-protein granola.
According to Marino, this mix contains 4 grams of protein, 10 grams of carbohydrates, 16 grams of fat, and 200 calories.
The 9 serving recipe is completely oat-free, but contains multiple sources of protein. Included:
- 1 cup of chopped cashew nuts
- 1 cup of chopped pecan nuts
- 1/2 cup of sliced almonds
- 1/2 cup coconut flakes
- 1/4 cup of crushed flax seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of curry powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 egg white
According to nutritionists, the recipe is packed with protein, healthy fats and flavors, but adding oats may help.
Bonnie Taub-Dix, a registered dietitian and founder of BetterThanDieting.com, told Insider that James’ recipes have a lot of nutritional value, especially in protein sources and spices.
Turmeric, in particular, has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years and is said to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, insiders previously reported. Similar effects have been reported from cinnamon and paprika, lowering cholesterol levels and helping to control type 2.
Diabetes mellitus
Insider reported earlier.
Still, Taub-Dix said adding oats to the recipe can improve fiber content and benefit heart health.
“Oats provide the energy that carbohydrates bring with soluble fiber and help keep the heart healthy,” Taubdix told insiders.
According to WebMD, eating oats also lowers cholesterol and blood sugar levels and reduces the risk of diabetes.
