Tired of the same omelet or scrambled eggs for breakfast every morning? Are you sticking with it because it’s the only protein-rich breakfast you can think of?
Much like egg breakfasts, there are many other breakfast options that are healthy, easy to make and meet your protein needs.Paneer Besan Chira is one of them.
An Instagram page named rootedinspice, famous for sharing Indian recipes, recently shared a reel with a recipe for paneer besan chilla. This recipe gives you 21g of protein from the besan and 15g of protein from the paneer used.
Here’s how to make Paneer Bezan Chilla.
material:
– 1 cup besan (split chickpea gram flour)
– 1/2 cup water (start with half and add 1/4 cup or more if you want it thinner)
– 1 teaspoon carom seeds (fennel seeds are fine too)
– 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
– 1/2 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili (or paprika)
– 1/4 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
– salty
– 1/2 shallot, finely diced
– 2-3 green chillies
– 1 small tomato, finely diced
– a handful of chopped coriander
– grated paneer (stuff as much as you like!)
– pinch of salt, roasted cumin powder, Kashmiri red pepper, sumac
recipe:
1. Grate the paneer, season, mix and set aside.
2. Sift besan into a large bowl and add all ingredients. Start by whisking half a cup of water, then add a little more to thin the chila.
3. Grease a frying pan with oil (it’s easier if it’s not sticky) and heat the oil over medium heat until it’s hot and spread the mixture thinly.
4. Cook for a few minutes until golden brown and with small holes visible on top. Flip over and repeat on the other side! Cook slowly at a low temperature! Make sure the heat is not too high and it doesn’t get too golden before cooking.
5. Get creative and add chili oil and other toppings of your choice, then add grated paneer, fold in half and serve with chutney or ketchup.
Green (Coriander) chutney is just a mix of coriander, half an onion, tomato, green chili pepper, lemon juice, 3 cloves of garlic, and salt! You can also add a little mint.
