A leading expert has revealed foods to avoid at breakfast and his own staples.
TV host and weight loss guru Dr. Michael Mosley made the 5:2 diet famous and has since developed Very Fast 800.
He believes a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet with intermittent fasting is the most ideal diet to follow for weight loss.
Dr. Michael has revealed on his website that slim people, like himself, should start their day with an egg.
“Boiled, poached, scrambled, or as an omelet – it keeps you fuller longer than cereal or toast,” the Daily Express says on its website.
But he warned that people watching their weight should be careful about what meat they eat.
If you eat eggs for breakfast every morning, bacon sounds like the perfect addition.
However, processed meat should be eaten “moderately” and “in small amounts,” Dr. Michael said.
The NHS and other health organizations agree, as foods such as bacon, sausage and ham have been consistently linked to colon cancer and heart disease.
Instead of bacon and eggs, Dr. Michael eats salmon and other fish, which are filling and also a good source of omega 3 and 6.

However, Dr. Michael warned that the worst option for anyone trying to lose weight is cereal.
These are “full of sugar,” he said.
Sugar at breakfast can set you on a rollercoaster of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia.

Eating it with proteins and fats, such as eggs and peanut butter, can reduce its effect on blood sugar levels, but avoid jams and chocolate spreads.
Eggs, on the other hand, are rich in protein and satiating, making them a great way to start the day.
At about 80 calories per egg, they’re low in calories, so you can add other delicious and nutritious vegetables like mushrooms and have two or three for breakfast.
