Oatmeal is full of nutrients that provide many health benefits to your body. It’s healthy enough to consider adding to your daily diet. It’s also very versatile and you can put a lot of your favorite healthy ingredients into it to make a more fulfilling bowl. Oatmeal is also an easy and convenient way to eat.
Not only have food companies tried to make their own oatmeal, but they have also found an easier way to serve it in your dietary routine. The simplest is a microwave-compatible single serve cup that can be quickly heated with water or milk. Of course, I had to do some research.
I decided to try seven microwave oatmeal cups I found on the store shelves. They had to be distributed in a single serve microwave oven. There are no large containers of oats, nor boxes full of self-pouring packets. it’s simple. Contains plenty of oats that are heated in the microwave with water.

Nature’s Promise is a family brand of Stop & Shop. A brand known for its affordable yet organic food take. From meat to fruit to bread, this brand is ubiquitous in this supermarket and is usually very good. That said, their microwave-compatible oatmeal has become very flat.
With just 4 grams of sugar, 7 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber, there is no doubt that this oatmeal is good for your health. But I couldn’t get over the consistency and taste of this brand.
When I took it out of the microwave, it looked promising. Fluffy oatmeal. But chewing it was completely the opposite. It was sticky and caught on the roof of my mouth and behind my teeth when I tried to bite into it. The fluffy expression looked rich. At one point, I flipped the container over to see if the oatmeal would fall. (Be careful of spoilers, I couldn’t get it out). The taste was also very pale. I know that oats don’t taste very good. But if you’re promoting a healthy breakfast, make it exciting!
I honestly haven’t heard of this brand until I stepped into CVS looking for oatmeal. This CVS snack line was introduced featuring over 40 foods that claim to be free of artificial flavors and preservatives. Oatmeal followed that motto because it had no artificial preservatives, flavors, sweeteners, and no high fructose corn syrup.
Given that I had never heard of this brand (or frankly, I had never paid attention to the CVS brand), I had no great expectations for this oatmeal.
But it wasn’t a terrible tasting oatmeal. It was a great surprise to be able to go to CVS for more than just the products of well-known brands. Overall, the consistency was less controversial (let’s make it real, because the texture of oatmeal can be strange) and the taste was decent.
My biggest dilemma was to add flavor to the oatmeal. The flavor was microscopic. If you’re trying to disguise oatmeal, make sure you’re tasting other ingredients.
The beloved and famous bran Quaker Oats has existed since 1877. They did the right thing because they still produce an incredible amount of oatmeal and other products. If you were asked to name oatmeal before this taste test, you could only say “Quaker Oats”. I had no other choice. It is no exaggeration to say that we enjoyed everything from rice cakes to cookies.
Well, why they were so low on my list. Maybe it was a single serve version that could be used in the microwave, but I was pretty disappointed. I followed the instructions on the container, but the oatmeal turned into a little soup. For this reason, the oatmeal felt muddy. For me, this was what you gave your baby more than an adult. The taste was there and it was important, but the overall breakfast was lacking.
Stop & Shop redeems itself with its own brand of oatmeal. The supermarket chain has many brands, including family brands that also sell oatmeal, so it was very surprising that we decided to create our own brand.For the record, I’m glad they did because this was many Better than Nature’s Promise (sorry!).
This naturally flavored oatmeal consisted of a lot of cinnamon and apple flavors. This worked pretty well to hide the fact that I was actually eating oatmeal. I think the taste of the apples was a little strange, but the texture of the incorporated fruits was not bland to me. Cinnamon overwhelmed the food. However, the consistency was excellent, the taste was good and it was healthy. Overall, rounded oatmeal.
McCann concludes my top three. At first, I didn’t know what “Irish” oatmeal meant. Did you import from Ireland? Need to buy a pint of Guinness? For the record, I do not object to it. But instead of guessing, I decided to look it up. In the case of Irish oatmeal, instead of rolling ground grains (whole grains of various grains), the grains were found to go through a steel cutting process. Regular oats are finely chopped, then steamed, rolled, flattened, dried and “more processed” to transform their original shape into flakes, unlike Irish oats, which retain almost the same shape. ..
I don’t know if it made an overall difference in the taste of oatmeal, but I think I enjoy eating this oatmeal and it’s easy to eat again. The flavor of oatmeal was pretty good, except for the occasional non-uniform taste of brown sugar, and it was too sweet and intense. However, the oats were well cooked and the texture was excellent. The texture and fluidity are not too high. It became a fun dish.
Kodiak cake is known for its protein-rich foods. And the company is always in the spotlight when combining proteins and flavors. This particular oatmeal contained 14 grams of protein, which made it easy to reach our daily protein goals. In my opinion I also tried a very unique chocolate chip version. You rarely see chocolate chips in microwave-cookable oatmeal.
It was so delicious that I decided to eat it as a dessert. It was worth it. Imagine a chocolate muffin or a chocolate lava cake. It’s made from 100% whole grains and has less sugar than the other oatmeals I’ve tried. I would like to seriously consider exchanging desserts for this oatmeal.
The reason Kodiak Cakes won the silver medal was that he couldn’t easily find oatmeal in the microwave. I carefully followed the instructions. The container was filled with water to a specific measurement, stirred and heated in the microwave for an appropriate period of time. When I first took out the oats, they were still very watery and the oats were not completely cooked. Then I put it in the microwave again. This time it was a little nice, but the oats were still hard. When I pasted it again, oatmeal exploded everywhere in the microwave. Don’t worry, I recovered it, but I appreciate less hassle next time.
I’ve never heard of this brand, so it was a nice surprise when I tasted it. With a very nice surprise, I ranked it as the best oatmeal. The brand was acquired by PepsiCo and is known for using grains and seeds to make healthy foods. Grains and seeds are also the first ingredients you see in each product. Especially for oatmeal, I thought it was a good idea to add nuts and seeds. It really shows that you can put whatever you like into oatmeal and make it great.
With 10 grams of vegetable protein, I enjoyed sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, flax seeds, and chia seeds bit by bit. Not only was it delicious, but I felt like I was eating very healthy with a spoonful. I also enjoyed the difference in the texture of this oatmeal. The texture of the seeds broke what is typical of oatmeal, such as a muddy bowl. My mouth has come to explore different tastes and textures through meals. I didn’t know about this brand without a taste test, so I’m glad I tried all these oatmeals!
