How many steps are there in a mile?
The answer depends on the person. Healthline states that the average stride is 2.5 feet, according to a study from the University of Iowa. This means that it takes a little over 2,100 steps for the average person to reach a mile.
Depending on your height and strength, your stride may be above or below average. You can use a tape measure or ruler to measure your stride length to calculate the number of steps it takes to reach a mile. Simply divide 5,280 feet (63,360 inches) by the length of the step to get a personalized count. Note that the running stride length is probably longer than the average step length.
