Housesign letter requires oxygen template
The bipartisan parliamentary sign-on letter invites lawmakers to participate in efforts to encourage the CMS to adopt clear, standardized template letters for household oxygen equipment and consumables.
HME providers and other HME stakeholders are required to support Congressional sign-on letters that may help improve patient access to household oxygen equipment and services.
The letter, published in the House of Representatives by Congressman Teri Seawell (D-Ala.) And Larry Bushan (R-Ind.), Tells the CMS to streamline the medical need for home oxygen therapy. I’m looking for it. Click here to download a PDF of the letters of dear colleagues from Congressman Sewell and Congressman Bucshon, as well as the House Sign-on letter.
“CMS takes advantage of the opportunity to expand current national coverage decisions for oxygen to establish clear standards to support medical needs and rely solely on standard written orders during pandemics. Please instruct the contractor to do or include it. The order will create a complete template to support your medical needs without having to review the medical records of individual clinicians. “Masu” is written in the letter to CMS. “Based on CERT data, medical needs are not an issue, but how clinicians write medical record notes can be an issue. CMS puts suppliers and beneficiaries in the middle. Instead, we need to create clear rules and forms that facilitate beneficiary access while protecting against fraud and abuse. “
How to help
The deadline for signing is July 29th. HME stakeholders are encouraged to send an email to the staff of parliamentarians responsible for health policy and ask their representatives to sign a sign-on letter to the CMS.
“This letter has only been circulating around Congress for 10 days, so it’s important to ask lawmakers to sign this letter today,” a VGM government statement read. “Please contact me today.”
To help providers do that, VGM Government Relations has provided an online tool to send a message to lawmakers and ask them to support this letter.
