Jacksonville, Florida — COVID-19 testing has become a part of many people’s daily lives.
If you’ve bought a test at home, you know that it can be expensive to continue the test, especially if you have a large family.
But starting this weekend, the Biden-Harris administration plans to save you some money while increasing access to free tests.

Starting Saturday, January 15th, if you have personal health insurance, you will be responsible for the COVID-19 test at home.
This helps prevent people from lining up in long lines to take tests and move forward.
However, COVID-19 testing at home is still in high demand, so the bigger challenge seems to be finding it.
Anesia Flowers came to the Cuba Hunter Center, a city-funded test site, on Tuesday to take the COVID-19 test.
“One of my customers, she was actually positive on the test, so I had to see them doing a free test and get off to see if I was okay.” Flowers explained.
According to a US Department of Health and Human Services press release released on Monday, the new coverage requirements mean that you can go online or in stores to receive prepaid COVID-19 test payments at home. Or by sending a bill to the plan and getting a refund.
Hana told Action News Jacks Courtney Call that she feels more comfortable with the help of medical professionals.
“I’m happy for those who don’t want to go. For me, I want to meet someone who knows what they’re doing,” Flowers said.
However, Amanda Lorenzo Oria told Cole that she had more days to wait for an appointment at a local pharmacy.
“I think that method is much better, and that way we don’t have much contact with many people,” says Lorenzo-Oria.
All tests for which an emergency use authorization has been granted by the FDA are covered.
According to HHS, insurance companies and health insurance must cover eight free commercial home inspections per month per eligible individual.
Even uninsured people can access the free local COVID-19 testing site or pay the full amount of the COVID-19 testing at home.
According to the HHS, the state’s Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) programs now need to cover FDA-approved home COVID-19 testing at no cost.

Medicare: If a doctor, non-doctor, pharmacist, or other certified medical professional orders the test, the cost of the COVID-19 diagnostic test performed in the laboratory, such as PCR or antigen testing, at no beneficiary expense. Will bear.
Ultimately, HHS suggests getting more specific information from your healthcare provider about how individual plans cover over-the-counter tests.
