Over the years, Davina McCall has inspired millions of people. There are many training DVDs under her belt and the fitness platform OwnYourGoals that lists just a few of her many projects.
She also published a best-selling healthy cookbook, freely talked about the history of self-help, and unraveled the mystery of menopause in the acclaimed Channel 4 documentary.
Thanks to her eldest daughter, Holly, 20, a student at Newcastle University’s Faculty of Nutrition, the masked singer judge is now taking new lessons on health.
“I get second-hand information from her non-stop, which is very convenient,” says Davina (18), who has two other children, and her son Chester (15).
She explains that “through penetration” has given us a better understanding of how the food we eat affects not only our physical health, but our feelings as well.

She states: “Obviously, by talking to Holly a lot, I know,’You are what you eat.’ I used to think it was just a catchphrase, but the microbiota in my stomach has a big influence on how we feel and look.
“I’m always learning about fermented foods because gut health is so important, but I’m not very keen on it, so I try to change the taste buds to get better bacteria in my gut.”
Gut microbiota play a role in producing 90% of the mood-stabilizing hormone serotonin, promoting the production of vitamins and hormones, improving sleep quality, supporting circadian rhythms, and controlling infections. , Improves mental health.
Therefore, when the good and evil of the intestinal bacteria are imbalanced, we feel it physically and emotionally.
For Davina, it’s especially noticeable when she eats sugar. Bad bacteria and yeasts propagate in the intestines of sugar.
“I do know that refined sugar disagrees with me at all,” says Davida. “It inflates me and hurts my tummy. It seems that I’m allergic and my body is repelling me from eating sugar. It doesn’t make me feel good.”

Davina claims that food is “unrestricted” and is stunning by defending simple and wise dietary hacks, such as enjoying entrees at lunch and limiting processed foods and dietary plans. I maintain a good appearance.
Fortunately, the days of her crash bikini diet are gone. “Before the kids, I just had a terrible breath at the Atkins diet,” she recalls.
“I lost a ton of weight-it was miraculous-but the moment I stopped the diet I put it all back. What’s the point of that?”
Even Davina’s “three or four times a week” training is no longer pursuing aesthetic rewards.
“I’m ready for my bikini now, so I’m still sick,” she says.

Davina, who recently stayed at TUIBLUE Grand Azur in Turkey to road test the hotel’s new wellness menu, said she needed to “just be quiet” to escape her “very busy head and very busy life”. increase.
That meant choosing a “meditational” form of fitness, like swimming, and striving away from technology. “I tried a wonderful Turkish hammam that found cleansing of the mind and body. I loved it.”
TUI BLUE conducted a survey and found that 54% of British people felt sick after trying wellness trends. Davina believes that the key to replenishing the mind, body and spirit is not the feeling of pressure, but the finding of activities that bring comfort.
“We see wellness as a punishment, but it’s not,” she says. “Wellness is about finding your happiness. It’s not about being a gym bunny, jogging every morning, or getting up at 6am and doing HIIT classes.
“It’s not about meditating, it’s just about stopping for a moment and leaving your daily life.”

When he gets home, Bo, who walks with his dog, is very resilient and helps to handle the recent loss of his beloved father.
In March, graphic designer Andrew died at the age of 77 and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016.
“Grief is like a wave and doesn’t respect the right timing,” says Davina. “When it comes, you have to get it to come.
“I’m really trying to connect with my dog, going out, taking in the fresh air, feeling the sun on my face, and leaving my phone at home. That helps me.”
According to Alzheimer’s Research UK, 74% of adults want to know that they have Alzheimer’s disease before symptoms such as memory loss and concentration problems appear.
Davina, the host of the Long Lost Family, does not exclude her from undergoing a predictive genetic test to assess the likelihood that one day will be affected.
“Obviously it crosses my head-will it put me more at risk because my dad had it? Until my grandmother got vascular dementia [Davina’s beloved late grandmother Pippy’s progressive vascular dementia was triggered by a stroke at the age of 93] She was fine, so I like the idea that I’m going to do what I know will reduce the risk of getting it. “

In addition to healthy exercise and diet, receiving hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may help her, says Davina.
“It’s really great because HRT can have a huge impact on reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia at an early stage, according to new research.
“It helps my menopausal symptoms, but it also helps reduce my risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease,” says Davina.
The study she mentions examined the health records of 400,000 women, and women who used or used HRT were 58% less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. I found out.
The study, cited in Davida’s 2021 program Sex, Myths and the Menopause, revealed her experience of suffering from perimenopausal symptoms.
Former Big Brother hosts who are now “adapted” to HRT “on the other side” say that one of their biggest wins in middle age is finally learning to let go of their worries.
“When you’re of childbearing age, it’s like,’Are you looking for a partner to have a child?’ It’s biological. When you can’t do more, you get everything.” Want to be single? Do you want to work? “
“You can do whatever you want in life, and you don’t care too much about everything-what people think about you, what you look like. It’s a good transition, a good place.” Douglas co-sponsors the weekly podcast “Making the Cut,” says Davina, who is dating hair stylist Michael.

From the outside, Davida is a positive, central and attentive kind, but she has been working to achieve this for almost 30 years.
Her health advance began 29 years ago with a £ 10 one-day self-esteem workshop.
“I went with my girlfriend, and we laughed a lot through it, but we 29 years later we took things out of the workshop [still] We practice it in our daily lives, “says Davida.
“Self-esteem can come and go during the day. You can get up in the morning and think,” Look at me. I look like Heidi Klum. ” Then, at lunch, someone looks at you across the office and you think. “Everyone hates me, I hate myself” and your self-esteem falls to the floor.
“It’s so temporary that I tried to find a tool to understand that not everyone is talking or thinking about you. Now I’m healthy to live longer. Can be maintained. “
