El Paso, Texas (KTSM) – Jessica Cantu lost 126 pounds less than a year after undergoing a vertical sleeve gastrectomy and is now living a whole new life.
Cantu has been operating for almost a year at Las Palmas Del Sol last May.
From £ 375 to £ 249, she was initially hesitant to have surgery.
The insurance company refused to cover it, but the sky was the limit after she knew she could pay it by borrowing a small personal loan.
She applied and got the $ 11,000 needed for surgery in 24 hours.
“We invest in cars, in homes, in electronics. We have to invest in ourselves, that’s exactly what I did with this surgery,” Cantu said. ..
Dr. Holhair Costa, medical director of obesity surgery at Las Palmas del Sol, and his team met Cantu and considered her a perfect candidate for vertical sleeve gastrectomy.
“This particular procedure is minimally invasive and recovers very quickly,” Dr. Acosta explained how the surgery works.
This procedure is done by using a laparoscope to reduce the volume of the stomach in which a person needs to eat a small amount of food, but it also limits the production of hormones that cause hunger.
Only four weeks after surgery, Cantu started exercising.
“The first time I crossed my legs, I couldn’t remember the last time I crossed my legs, so I wanted to cry,” said Cantu, who could fly without a seatbelt extender and start a variety of activities. I remembered that and shared it. He was always dreaming.
She signed up for a motorcycle driving lesson and plans to go parasailing in the future.
Not only did this weight loss bring about a healthier lifestyle, but it also brought about new opportunities.
Cantu was invited to share her story at the Drew Barrymore Show on her birthday in February. She also shares with the actress.
“They called my name and I started sharing my story, and I got the Hydro Rower, which was great,” she said.
Since then, she has received an exercise machine and enjoyed using it.
She wants to encourage others and encourage them to invest in themselves.
“I don’t have a price tag in my confidence. I can’t buy it,” Cantu said.
