To the editor:
“When you want to help someone, tell the truth…”
Economist Thomas Sowell wrote these words over 20 years ago, but he may be talking about Kim Fiorello, the 149 national delegate.th General Assembly district. Kim has tirelessly and courageously advocated the lessons of individual rights, free markets, limited government, all of which have contributed so much to society’s historic success. Kim also recognizes that individual rights come with responsibilities, as Thomas Jefferson pointed out.Wherever people are well informed, they can trust their government”
To that end, Kim has been relentless in her efforts to uncover the truth and share it with voters and fellow lawmakers, but that may be inconvenient in public sentiment.
As an example, Kim does not support legislation that would require private insurance companies to cover additional medical services at below prescribed market prices. Kim recognizes that if these proposals are enacted, they will ultimately raise costs, if not jeopardize the availability of health insurance for all.
Moreover, to complement her detailed and well-researched memos to voters, Kim, in contrast to other public servants, uses a series of Sponsored the public policy debate of
- A discussion by a Stanford University economics professor on Henry Hazlitt’s Classical Economics in One Lesson is a reminder that we need to consider the long-term consequences of our decisions.
- Discussed with civil rights leader Bob Woodson the Unites project of 1776, which seeks to unite African-Americans and advocate for principles such as entrepreneurship, self-determination, and mutual social support.
- A discussion with Dr. Peter W. Wood, renowned scholar and author on critical race theory and what this means for education, and how his educational approach helps children overcome barriers A discussion with renowned black educator Ian Lowe on what makes it possible to do and achieve success.
- A discussion of COVID policy failures with Dr. Scott Atlas, Senior Fellow of Health Policy at the Hoover Institution (the CDC has since admitted).
- Most recently, there was a discussion with accounting expert Sheila Weinberg on balancing Connecticut’s budget.
The challenges facing our society are difficult and cannot be solved with lip service. Kim is serious, careful, and thorough. We need Kim in Hartford and I strongly support her re-election this November.
