In her weekly column, licensed nutritionist Nonnie DeLong explains why you might want to abandon your diet resolution altogether.

During this time, it is common for people to think about a year ago and start planning for a year ahead. I love this habit in my life. Because it helps to keep inventory as needed and get the course right. You can see that your values โโare in line with your actions and that you are moving towards your goals. It’s exciting to imagine what’s coming next year and how I’ll change by the same time next year. And if we want to live intentionally, I think it’s absolutely essential.
At all times, people also assess their health during this time. This leads to the setting of diet resolutions, usually for weight and appearance, and sometimes for health improvements. However, these resolutions almost always mean giving up tasty meals, giving priority to bland, restrictive meals. But this year, to save a lot of effort, time and money, here are some secrets from people in the nutrition industry.
please do not.
Dieting as a New Year’s aspiration does not work. The diet doesn’t work. And it prepares you for an eating disorder diet cycle where no one in their right mind wants to sign up. So don’t do that. Do not set the resolution of that diet!
If we want to change our health-really, really, and forever-we don’t need a new diet. Or a diet called “lifestyle change”. What we need is a change of mindset.
If we want to do something forever, it doesn’t have to be restrictive. You don’t have to be bored and bored. It doesn’t have to be bland and repetitive. If we want to eat a healthy diet for the rest of our lives, we need to be excited about healthy food. And you can’t do this in a more powerful way than learning to grow and cook delicious food at home.
Children exposed to garden growth at school are excited to return home with vegetables that their parents may never have used. Have you seen this in your child? Adults are just as excited as going to a friend’s house (remember it wasn’t a crime?) And sample new dishes that inspire the senses. The food is great and the choices are endless. And when we get excited about playing with food like this, we become passionate about quality. And high quality food means nutritious food. And when we eat this way, everything changes.
A body with abundant nutrients does not crave sugar for energy. You don’t need them! It can be comfortable and fast without craving! The body, which has organic, nutritious and biologically appropriate foods, is not full of inflammation and pain.A body nourished in this way is strong
The immune system and age lack inflammatory diseases in our society. The joints move painlessly. Muscles recover quickly from work. The brain recovers without being traumatized. The digestive system works as expected. Influenza is just influenza. Our mind keeps their acuity.
Those who are excited about such foods are exhausted and stop by the TV without going home and reluctant to prepare dinner. There is a supper plan to make sure the ingredients are at hand and ready, making it easy, joyful and healthy. Children feel joy and food change.
Do you remember the joy of food? number? Then you need to take a cooking class or a gardening class instead of starting another diet.
Unless you have food allergies / intolerances, metabolic disorders, and chronic health, there is no reason to restrict your diet. The guidelines are good. Learn what are the healthiest options and how to include them further. It’s healthy. If you fall into a category that requires some restrictions to rebalance your body, do not do it from a dieting point of view. It makes it much harder to succeed! Do it from an exploratory point of view.
Yes, there is a difference! If you want to do it for the rest of your life and lose weight, it makes all the difference. Or encourage your children to choose healthy foods. The way we organize things mentally makes all the difference in how hard we work on them and how successful our efforts are.
Consider the following two statements. Think of them and see how they make you feel.
- Never eat sugar again!
- You’ll find healthy recipes that you like as much as sugar!
Which made you take action?
If you want to amplify it further, think of salads and meats, or other blatantly healthy foods you once had. This was absolutely delicious. Something you loved. I was surprised. Now train your brain and start making connections: Healthy food can be absolutely delicious! Now you are on your way to reach your goals without another diet solution!
