The next Mr. Olympia event may not be until the end of the year, but Canadian bodybuilder Chris Bumstead is already ready. That means increasing his food intake. Currently weighing 255 pounds, his goal is to earn another 10 pounds and he will officially be the biggest player ever.
After winning the title of Mr. Olympia Classic Fijik for the third consecutive year, Bamstead, who has already shared the meals he uses to lean out before the competition, not to mention the spectacular cheat day menu he was hooked on. He shared a new video analyzing how he’s eating, bulky again during his off-season.
For breakfast, prepare bagels with gee butter (mostly pancakes), shake with protein, oat, and almond butter to wash away vitamins and supplements. That’s 1,344 calories.
The second meal of the day is 980 calories, followed by the classic steak and rice, followed immediately by the third meal, chicken and rice (760 calories). “I like to eat chicken and rice in front of the gym because it’s the most basic diet I’ve ever had and it’s easy to digest,” he explains.
The post-workout meal is turkey surimi with sweet potatoes and bananas, 780 calories. Bumstead does not boil sweet potatoes, but bake them or fry them in the air. Sweet potatoes are cooked to be smaller, easier to eat, and help you reach your daily calorie goal in bulk.
Meal number 5 consists of sweet potatoes, avocado, and ground beef (682 calories). And the last meal of the day is a 600-calorie protein shake with oats and almond butter. “If you have a shake in the morning and night and you have all the food you need, you can go,” he says. “I haven’t had the biggest diet lately, so these help me put things in.”
Bumstead’s greatest tips for bulking? Make sure you are drinking enough water. Your body will then help you digest all the food you are consuming.
