We often hear the words “get thin” and “get fat”, but what is weight maintenance? Weight maintenance is the idea of adopting long-term lifestyle changes to maintain a healthy weight based on a person’s age, gender and height. A healthy diet and regular exercise are ways to maintain weight. Long-term weight maintenance in an adult is considered to be a weight change of less than 3% of her body weight. While you may feel pressured to lose more weight when you’re on vacation, that’s not always the case.
