Las Vegas (KLAS) — Some Clark County school district teachers are talking about the school district’s health insurance and the problem of finding a doctor and paying for it.
Not all of the teacher’s eight news spoken in this story wanted to be identified, but claimed that these insurance issues had worsened in the last few months. “I think there are many problems not only for me but for other teachers,” Clark County High School teacher Luanne Wagner told 8NewsNow.
Wagner has been a teacher for 24 years and says he has never seen anything like this throughout her career. “She says she couldn’t get chemotherapy while various teachers went back and forth between businesses,” Wagner said. She said, “There was a problem with people who had a hard time hiring a doctor.”
“In my situation, I’m paying for the dentist’s preferred provider insurance, but I’ve found that I’ve switched to an HMO at the dentist’s office,” Wagner added. “I was told that there was something wrong with the system and people’s insurance suddenly changed, but I’m told that I need to appeal to get it back.”
Wagner went on to say that her husband needs dental treatment, which is now very difficult for her and her family. “Now, if we have to pay from our pocket, it will be over $ 1,000.”
Patrick Casale is a multi-care group insurance broker that has been serving Nevada for over 30 years. Now that Casale told 8 News, the school district’s medical problems have been going on for decades. “Depending on who your career is and how things are set up, it can be very difficult to see a doctor within 90 days,” Casale said.
Casale added that the solution could be very simple. He also said there was no excuse to receive the invoice and no access to anyone who could explain what the problem was.
