Greenville, NC (WNCT) — March is National Nutrition Month. The Pitt County Health Department distributes cooking kits to families enrolled in the county’s women’s, toddler, and children’s programs.
Ashley Penland is a nutritionist in the health sector. She said her goal was to promote cooking at home, which was not only fun for the family, but also better nutrition. She said the best part of this program is working with her family.
“And it’s like supporting them by getting interested in and learning about healthier foods, modeling healthy eating habits with them, and incorporating them into the process of making food. “That’s what Penland said.
The kit includes cooking utensils and recipes such as cutting boards and measuring spoons. Registered families can receive the kit from the health department from Monday to Friday to March.
