Sebastian, 38, is a better father and role model for his son because he shares the changes he made to lose weight and become stronger.
I’ve always tried to achieve a good fitness level by practicing Muay Thai kickboxing, running and swimming a lot, but I couldn’t lose weight (and more importantly fat). During Covid, I was constantly sluggish due to lack of physical activity, so I decided to enroll in the Ultimate Performance 12-week program. I’ve seen both my wife and brother-in-law achieve impressive results in the Ultimate Performance transformation agenda. Importantly, I wanted to be able to catch up, play and entertain my two young noisy sons. After a busy day, I didn’t want them to have a tired dad who couldn’t pay attention to them and couldn’t engage in sports or fun activities.
I would have defined myself as reasonably healthy in terms of cardiovascular capacity, but I carried too much fat and did not have defined muscle tissue. I thought I was strong, but obviously it wasn’t. It takes time to gain strength through a consistent strength training routine. I’ve never been used to resistance training because I’ve only practiced aerobic exercise and had to learn about sets, repeats, runs, forms, and breaks. It takes time to get used to it, but the good thing about beginner trainees (as I did) is that they can get good results pretty quickly. My best point about strength training is that it is the best type of exercise to achieve efficient fat loss and good nutrition.
On the nutritional side, we needed to make major changes to the way we approach food. I learned about calorie management, starting by entering the stage of calorie deprivation for efficient fat loss and carefully tracking the intake of key nutrients. Before the UP, I was unaware of how many calories I was eating every day. Training at UP has helped me change my diet for the better. We were able to take a careful but more intuitive approach to calorie intake, macro compliance, and overall wise food selection. I cook all foods such as meat, fish, green vegetables, nuts, avocados, and fat sources such as healthy oils, completely eliminating processed foods and sugary foods / beverages.
I trained with trainer Mark four times a week for an hour. Mark has designed an efficient Whole Body German Volume Training (GVT) program consisting of whole body strength training that allows for more aggressive fat loss rates and improved metabolism. Examples of large complex exercises involving large muscle groups include hex bar squats, bench press, Romanian or normal deadlift, lat pull-down, row, biceps and triceps curls, lateral. Rising direction, squats in Bulgaria, chin-ups. I have found a powerful yet incredibly efficient “pendulum” movement. This moves the toughest leg muscles of all.
My journey focused primarily on fat loss, but lean body mass increased slightly. I started with 27.1% body fat at 77.3 kg (170 lbs), lightened 15.3 kg (34 lbs) at 62 kg (136 lbs), and got 9% body fat. (When my family in France saw my new photos, they thought I took them in Photoshop!) The biggest benefits other than enjoying slimmer shapes are mood and mental health. It was an improvement in stress, a reduction in stress, and an improvement in sleep habits. ..
This experience also gives you new confidence in getting closer to life, and as long as you stick to a consistent, clean diet associated with regular training, you won’t feel guilty or worry about gaining fat. Taught me how to enjoy social events and meals. You can now play with your sons and carry them around for a long time. All parents know that they need incredible energy to care for their children. My reward for training at UP is to be able to catch up with my energetic boy.
Based on the successful transformation, I decided to continue training with Mark at UP to advance to the longer-term muscle hypertrophy stage. I now feel more experienced, so I split my training between UP and myself and continue to benefit from Mark’s training and nutritional advice. Building skeletal muscle is a much slower process, but I am now confident and confident that I will succeed.
My best advice for everyone is: Don’t give up and believe in your ability to follow the trainer’s program and nutrition plan. Even the best trainers in the world have completed 15,000 steps per day to accelerate fat loss, but you are the only one who can fully comply with dietary preparation and calorie / macro tracking. And just as important is to have fun every second, just like I do.
