Many people find it difficult to prepare a healthy diet.
Several factors can contribute to this challenge, including lack of time, money, and / or kitchen experience.
The “Healthy & Homemade” workshop will help participants learn how to overcome these challenges.
“If you’re looking for ideas on how to eat healthy and get the most out of your kitchen time, this workshop series is for you,” said ISU Extension’s Food and Health Human Science Specialist. One Renee Sweater says. “Join one or both healthy cooking sessions.”
The March 3rd session, Slow Cook Meal, will cover the basics of using slow cookers, food safety tips, and dietary ideas.
The March 10 session, “Cook Now and Enjoy Later,” teaches participants how to plan to reduce stress, save money, and provide nutritious home cooking to their families.
Each program includes recipes, tastings, and hands-on activities.
“Cooking at home can be a way to save money, eat a healthy diet, and reduce the risk of chronic illness,” Sweeters said. “Surveys show that home-cooked meals tend to be healthier.”
Participants can choose to participate in one or both sessions.
The registration fee is $ 10 per session, which includes tastings, recipes and hands-on resources.
Pre-registration is required to plan food and ingredients.
