Brady went to bed at 8:30 pm every night to ensure nine hours of sleep.
Brady’s day usually started before the sun rose. Especially during the football season when I played in New England.
He woke up at 5:30 am every day to make sure all meals and morning exercises were completed before entering the meat of the day.
But sleep was still very important to Tom Brady’s rhythm, he elaborated in the 2017 book The TB12 Method. He aimed to get at least 9 hours of sleep overnight, so he went to bed at 8:30 pm to get up on time and get plenty of rest.
Brady started daily with a smoothie containing 36 grams of protein.
Brady unveiled his favorite breakfast smoothie recipe on social media during the final season of 2021. It contained more protein than most people would consume for a supper.
The recipe included almond butter, raw walnuts, and a cup of whey protein.
He said he drank more than two gallons of water a day.
Brady had previously told Forbes to drink up to 37 glasses of water daily. This is equivalent to 2.3 gallons.
The National Academy of Science and Technology recommends that men consume about 125 ounces of water per day and women consume about 91 fluid ounces, based on levels of physical activity and protein consumption. And some people need more water.
According to the American College of Sports Medicine, Brady, an active NFL player on a high-protein diet, needs that amount of water to maintain hydration.
Brady received tissue flexibility therapy daily, and sometimes twice daily.
Alex Guerrero, Brady’s longtime body coach, taught Brady the importance of organizational flexibility when he started working with him in 2005. Tissue flexibility measures muscle elasticity.
Guerrero told NBC Sports that he used manual therapy to improve Brady’s tissue flexibility at least once a day, often twice a day, such as fascia training, massage, and stretching routines.
Brady has designated several food groups, including dairy products, sugar, gluten, refined carbohydrates, caffeine, and processed meats, as completely off limits.
According to WebMD, Brady avoided foods known to cause inflammation. This is known to increase the risk of injury and organ damage.
Brady said one of the most difficult parts of the effort was missing out on special meals with his family, especially holidays, in the SiriusXM podcast “Let’s Go!”.
Brady avoided agricultural products such as strawberries, tomatoes and eggplants.
Brady avoided all fruits and vegetables from “Solanaceae” plants.
According to WebMD, Solanaceae plants include tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes, and peppers, which differ in that they contain less anti-inflammatory alkaloids than other fruits and vegetables.
Brady ate 80% vegan, but 20% of his diet was organic meat.
Brady’s dietary structure was based on a diet containing 80% plant-based foods such as vegetables and grains, and 20% organic lean proteins such as wild fish and grass-fed chicken.
This approach is known to gain many health benefits associated with veganism, including improved gut health, reduced inflammation, and reduced risk of certain illnesses. But it also allows just enough meat for someone to have a reliable source of lean protein.
Brady’s dessert has a bitter twist.
Brady found a way to indulge, albeit within his diet. On the day of the game, he left himself to a chocolate square for dessert, which had to be 100% cocoa.
Dark chocolate reports health benefits — it contains a strong concentration of flavonol-filled cocoa beans. Flavonols help reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol, and increase systemic blood flow.
