Local 4 this morning sat with Krave Fitness’s personal trainer and gym owner, Allen Minch.
We’re just in mid-January, so we talked about fitness and weight loss people’s New Year’s aspirations, how to best set goals and stick to them.
“They need to make sure that the goals they set are achievable within the time frame they want to set to achieve them,” Minced said. “People often set unrealistic goals, thinking that a month can undo years of health and physical abuse. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works.
“It takes time to lose fat. If you lose a pound of fat a week, you’re doing a tremendous amount of work,” he said. “People mistake bloating and water loss for true weight and fat loss. You can fluctuate a 10-pound scale a week and you won’t lose a pound of fat. True fat It takes time to reduce. Think realistically about your goals and what parts of your current lifestyle you are willing to change to reach those goals. Free and easy. there is no.”
There are many aspects to fitness, and therefore different goals for weight loss and fitness, Minced said.
“There is aerobic endurance, flexibility and balance, strength, muscle endurance, and of course body composition,” he said. “I often see people go into routines that don’t match their stated goals, so I think it’s important to choose a program that is relevant to your goals, as opposed to a particular exercise.
“If you’re starting your fitness journey from a sedentary lifestyle, new programs can start from something as simple as a daily walk to as active a pace as possible,” Minchi said. I am. “In addition, let’s start the day with a basic stretch and light mobility job. This is what we all did in our high school PE class.
“It doesn’t have to be the New Age routine you saw on Instagram or YouTube,” he said. “In addition, weight squats, push-ups and good old crunches are a great start. Of course, I advocate the variety of options and coaching available in the gym, but you can easily get started at home. And never forget that changing and managing your diet can give you more initial results than any amount of work. “
