Christmas is the time when your diet and exercise plans from January through November are a little out of the window. And there’s nothing wrong with that, according to personal trainer and fitness expert Matt Hodges, who told Express.co.uk this Christmas. Here are his 3 easy ways to stay fit and healthy.
Matt told Express.co.uk:
With the work Christmas does and a social calendar overflowing with food and drink plans, few people can stay on track during the season.
Matt explains:
During celebrations, consumption increases, but movement generally decreases.

This is due to shorter days, cooler weather, more hangovers and more days on the couch.
The expert continues, “There’s really no way around this other than ‘eating less,’ so if you’re looking at a magical ‘fix,’ sorry for being the bearer of bad news.
“But, but, but you can make the most of a bad (great) situation.”
Matt shared three things we can do to “feel better about our heavy consumption at Christmas” and avoid putting on too much weight.
Do not miss it…
eat more protein
Matt suggests stocking your fridge with plenty of healthy protein like meat, fish, and eggs.
He said that, like fiber, protein “makes us more full” and curbs unhealthy cravings between meals and late at night.
Plus, “it gives you the added bonus of providing excellent nutrition to all your underutilized muscles.”
Hydrate frequently
Drinking plenty of water is a great way to avoid or reduce a hangover.
Consuming large amounts of water during a night out helps prevent dehydration (alcohol is a diuretic) and helps flush toxins out of the body.
Drinking water before meals once a day reduces appetite.
It also prevents unnecessary snacking, as people often think they are hungry but are actually thirsty. Hmm.
