In 2017, the mother of four developed an app called Brooke Burke Body. The app features hundreds of “stackable” workout programs that range from 5 minutes to her 30 minutes and can be done anywhere, without equipment. Her goal, she said, is to make her exercise more accessible to busy mothers who struggle to make time for themselves.
“I think one of the most common mistakes people make is that they don’t know where to start,” the 51-year-old told Fox News Digital. “They lose self-esteem, they lose self-confidence. They don’t know how to create change. So they stop doing anything. That’s the biggest mistake…if you’re unsure about how to change your body, just Do something, take a walk, start small…doing something is better than doing nothing, it’s the most common conversation I have with women.

“We know we have more energy after working out than we did at the beginning.” There’s just a lot of self-talk, and this negative dialogue inside is like, ‘I don’t know if I’m strong enough. Burke said one of her favorite workout routines these days is high-intensity interval training (HIIT). This helps you burn calories quickly with short, intense exercises like burpees, jumping her jacks, and mountain climbers.
“I used to go to a 45-minute cardio class and I love it. The inner dialogue was like, ‘Oh my God, how long is it? I’m not going to finish this class.’ You can push and you can get your heart rate to skyrocket, and you’ll also get a nice afterburn effect. [do it all over]Otherwise there’s a lot of recovery because I’m afraid of it before I even start. And I think fitness should be a challenge. It should be uncomfortable, but I think it should be doable. Otherwise you are not going to come back and do it all over again. “
“I also do a lot of yoga, stretching, and Pilates-inspired moves,” she said. “I don’t like going hungry,” she said. “I do intermittent fasting, but I also really believe in feeding the brain and feeding the body to produce energy. I like high protein snacks. My current favorite snack.” One of the dates, pitted out, cut in half, put in a spoonful of almond butter and sprinkle [some] cocoa powder on top. I put it in the freezer and the kids grab it. With healthy, mindful snacks on hand, I don’t think you’ll make a bad choice. “
