“As a nurse, I know how difficult and demanding this job can be. When I talk to people outside the health care field, they are often shocked and ask why they are doing this. It’s like, oh, it’s just another patient. It is not right to be expected to face violence and abuse in the workplace.
It was so peaceful and enjoyable especially compared to my experience working in home health care. I always looked forward to going to work and never felt burnt out. But I don’t think I’ll ever leave nursing completely. Especially as a recent graduate, I want to continue to help people and make a difference.
I want to tell other nurses who may be listening that I see you, I hear you, and I care about you. I can only imagine how hard it must be for a burnt out experienced nurse. We became nurses for a reason. I hope we can make a difference to improve the nursing profession and create a safer and supportive work environment for all nurses. “
