This may come as a surprise, but certain carbohydrates such as bread and potato chips can also lead to tooth decay.
“Bacteria in your mouth feed on the sugars found in carbohydrates, causing plaque buildup and tooth decay,” explains Dr. Goldstein. “Be sure to brush and floss after eating carbs, and choose healthier carbs like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.”
