Lansing, Michigan, November 1, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Health Management Associates (HMA) launched the HMA initiative, the Leavitt Center for Alliances. It aims to elevate the national debate on healthcare and help healthcare organizations solve their most complex challenges through consensus-based alliances.
The Leavitt Center for Alliances (Leavitt Center) is home to a convener of professionals with decades of experience in the private sector and government. Over the years, they have fine-tuned the process for successful partnerships that bring multi-sector stakeholders to the table with the promise of reaching consensus and real-world solutions.governor Mike Levitt He served as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Rich McKean, served as Chief of Staff of HHS. The two founded her Leavitt Partners and developed the science of alliance building. Their book, Finding Allies, Building Alliances, lays out his eight key ingredients for successful alliances, and provides the framework of work and resources on which the Leavitt Center is now based.
Leavitt, co-chair of HMA and chairman and board member of Leavitt Partners, said: “Our approach to multi-sector, consensus-based alliances rooted in collaboration has consistently helped organizations identify and develop solutions to some of their most complex problems. It’s a roadmap for bridging the gap between and realizing results.”
The Leavitt Center guides stakeholders through each step of the process of forming alliances, building consensus within those alliances, and implementing a strategic plan that delivers results. Expertly convened alliances solve tough problems too big for individual organizations to tackle alone, harness shared resources and expertise, and provide “power in numbers.”
“The expertise of our Leavitt Center colleagues in both the arts and sciences of creating and deploying alliances to develop innovative solutions is unmatched. Jay Rosen, Founder, President and Co-Chairman of HMA. “Combining that know-how with his field experts across HMA, we see great potential to extend this proven partnering approach beyond the federal landscape and into communities across the country.”
Leavitt Center professionals have helped more than 50 alliances achieve impactful results, including the Dual Eligible Coalition founded in 2017. It involves developing practical, long-term policy and programmatic solutions to improve care delivery and outcomes for the dual-eligible population. Other alliances include his CARIN Alliance, which focuses on improving access to digital health information, Pharmaceutical Distribution Security Alliance (PDSA), and COVID Patient Recovery Alliance.
