Curds that are low in unhealthy fat and high in protein are used to make raita. Plus, the curd is so light and cool that it keeps you hydrated. Here are five benefits of raita for digestion and weight loss, according to Malik:
1. Raita is a fermented milk product that contains live healthy bacteria. Stir the curds to prepare and garnish with vegetables and fruits for a good seasoning for weight loss.
2. Raita is a nutritious food containing high quality protein and a potential source of vitamins and minerals. Contains live bacteria such as Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus.
3. These active bacteria act as probiotics that are known to have a positive effect on digestion. It has beneficial effects in treating gastrointestinal disorders such as diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome.
4. Raita is a low-calorie, low-energy food. Great for weight loss as it makes you feel fuller and less hungry.
5. Curds mixed with fruits and vegetables can help prevent weight gain. In fact, raita’s probiotics improve the gut microbiome, which is also involved in weight maintenance.
