Maintaining a healthy weight is important for people of all ages. However, after the age of 60, weight loss becomes difficult. This happens because our metabolism slows down as we age. Dropping a few pounds after a certain age can be difficult, but not impossible. The golden rule of weight loss is still the same. The only difference is that our focus shifts from hours of intense gym and diet experiments to doing things calmly and in moderation.
Speaking of which, nutritionist Karishma Shah recently posted a post on her Instagram space dealing with the same thing and sharing her solution. “Nutritional needs vary by age and gender. In general, you’ll need less of some foods and more of others,” she wrote.
Here are some tips shared by nutritionists that you should follow to maintain a healthy weight.
Reduce your dependence on instant foods:
Fast food, processed foods, or foods associated with weight gain can interfere with weight loss and should be avoided. This is because convenience foods are not only high in calories but lack essential nutrients.
Maintain your strength by doing strength training.
It’s natural to lose muscle mass after a certain age. Therefore, it is important to offset it by doing strength training. Try to lift lighter weights. In addition, you should do yoga and pilates. Another reason muscle mass training is important is that it plays an important role in burning calories.
