Go Dairy Free has many smoothie recipes to help you confuse your morning routine. This dairy-free blackberry cheer smoothie is what I decided to revisit as sweet blackberries began to arrive. It’s from a book 40 days of green smoothie By Becky Streep.
This blackberry cheer smoothie is simple, healthy and delicious
We originally shared this Blackberry Cheer Smoothie recipe when Becky’s book went on sale, but I made some updates and quickly answered the FAQ for some recipes.
- I’m not a fan of blackberry seeds?? Chia seeds blend well into smoothies, while blackberry seeds are small and hard. If you don’t like them on the smoothie, pre-blend the blackberries with coconut milk and strain the liquid into a glass measuring cup through a fine mesh sieve. Rinse the blender to remove the remaining seeds before adding the blackberry coconut milk and the remaining ingredients.
- Need coconut free?? Instead of both light coconut milk and water, you can use your favorite dairy-free milk drink. Therefore, use a 3/4 to 1 cup milk drink that does not contain dairy products. In this blackberry cheer smoothie recipe, I like unsweetened plain or vanilla almond milk or oat milk, but most types work well.
- Not sweet?? If your blackberry is still too sour or your banana is not ripe enough, this blackberry cheer smoothie may need to be flavored. To reduce the amount of sugar added, I often add just one or two drops Stevia liquid.. Alternatively, you can sprinkle with small honey or agave syrup.
- How much calcium does this smoothie contain??? Chia seeds alone add about 150 milligrams of dairy-free natural calcium. Agricultural products make it a little more exciting. But if you’re looking for a higher dose, try the coconut-free option above and choose a milk drink that doesn’t contain fortified dairy products.
