Ice lollies are stocked in my freezer at this time of the year. When you’re looking for a refreshing frozen treat, there’s nothing better than that. It’s convenient to get a box of popsicles in the grocery store aisle, but making it from scratch is a much healthier option. Try this quick and simple three-ingredient recipe for homemade honey and lemon popsicles.
Why homemade popsicles beat the popsicles you bought at the store
A quick glance at the ingredient list in the popsicle (also known as popsicles) box will reveal high fructose corn syrup, sugar, artificial flavors and dyes. These unhealthy ingredients are great for occasional enjoyment of popsicles purchased in stores, but not for regular consumption.
Making popsicles at home allows you to manage the ingredients yourself. No additional consumption of sugar or high fructose corn syrup associated with increased inflammation or weight gain.
Natural sweeteners like honey are the perfect sugar replacement because they are packed with antioxidants that help promote gut health and reduce cholesterol. Add fresh lemon juice to balance the sweetness of the honey. It gives your popsicles a citrus fever and provides a dose of Vitamin C to activate.
