According to a press release, Springfield Medical Care Systems has changed its brand name to North Star Health.
The name change for the Springfield-based federal health center will take place after the organization has completed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and separated from Springfield Hospital in late 2020.
The name “North Star” is an organization to help patients “identify health-related priorities” by helping them reduce stress, sleep better, and eat healthier. The purpose is to emphasize how our care team works. These lifestyle changes can reduce the risk of diabetes and high blood pressure, for example. Regular cancer screening, vaccination, and annual health checkups are other precautions offered by Northstar clinicians.
“We ask many patients to talk about what they want to change in their lives and what they consider us to be a guide and companion to their efforts,” said CEO Josh Dufresne. Said in the release. “The staff talked about how we can be like North Star. Just as North Star acts as a guide light, our care team meets each and every one of them where they are. Help them reach their health and wellness goals. “
The name change also “includes the broader breadth and diversity of many communities provided by the two states (federal-qualified health centers),” officials said in a release.
Organizations include the Charlestown Health Center. Chester Dental Center; Radlow Health Center; Radlow Dental Center; Mountain Valley Health Center in Londonderry. Springfield’s North Star Vision (formerly Lane Eye Associates). Rocking Gum Health Center, Springfield Health Center. We also offer on-site services at four schools and the Edgar May Recreation Center in Springfield.
Springfield Hospital, associated with an organization then known as Springfield Medical Care Systems, first went bankrupt in June 2019 after several years of operating losses. These losses ultimately led to the accumulation of debt totaling approximately $ 20 million.
The organization separated as part of the restructuring of Chapter 11, made possible by the $ 6 million exit fund from Vermont, but in a news release on Sunday “Patience.”
The name of the organization has changed, but the people who run it haven’t changed.
“Our ownership, our board of directors and our organization haven’t changed, our locations, providers and services remain the same,” said Bob Flint, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Northstar Health, in a release.
The transition to North Star Health will begin with the launch of a new website and online material, and will be phased in over the next few months with updated signs.
The new North Star brand will be launched approximately a month after Lebanon-based Dartmouth Health announces a new name and logo. It is intended to be used by DH to raise awareness of the name in southern New Hampshire.
