Worcester, Massachusetts — On Friday, some residents of Worcester Housing Corporation had the opportunity to receive a meal for a healthy diet.
The Housing Corporation has worked with the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center, Project Bread, and the Regional Environmental Council for food bag distribution in the Great Brook Valley.
About 100 bags containing ingredients such as lettuce, squash, and apples were distributed with the recipe book.
“As a healthcare provider, the Kennedy Community Health Center recognizes the rate of increase in food insecurity,” said Juli True Douri, Director of Marketing and Development at Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center. “We are pleased to receive a grant to make this possible and bring it to the hands of those who need it most.”
McDavidrodriguez, Farmers Market Manager, Regional Environment Council, said: “We are doing our best to go to these communities as an organization and spread the word that fruits and vegetables are still available at SNAP and HIP.”
The Regional Environment Council’s mobile market stops in several different areas of Worcester and the surrounding towns.
