The Department of Public Health (Region 5) in southwestern Louisiana recently hosted a ribbon-cut ceremony for Sulfur to grand-open the new Calcasieu Parish Health Unit Satellite Clinic.
The clinic at 703 Cypress St., Suite B is currently connected to the West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital (WCCH) and is within walking distance of many other sulfur healthcare providers. The Sulfur Clinic is also connected to the WCCH Community Health Center and accepts all patients with or without Medicaid, Medicare, or insurance.
Dr. Lacy Kabanau, Regional 5 Medical Director, said closer proximity to other care providers provides a more comprehensive approach to patient care, WCCH, Public Health Department, Calcasshoe Parish Police. He also mentioned the cooperation of the judges.
“This would not have been possible without a strong partnership between all these organizations,” said Dr. Cavanaugh.
District 15 Police Judge Tony Tramonte said the new location is “win-win” for everyone, as police judges saved about $ 2 million in taxpayers with potential refurbishment to the old location. I said there is. The former facility on Edgar Street was originally built in the 1950s, last refurbished in the 1990s, and was heavily damaged by Hurricane Roller. By moving the clinic to Cypress Street, taxpayers were able to save on the cost of raising the building to modern medical standards.
Services provided by Sulfur Clinic include:
